:: THE DEAD TREES ::

Voltando a falar agora das bandas de fora vou fechar esta semana lhes apresentando The Dead Trees, um quarteto de Los Angeles-EUA, formado por Michael Ian Cummings (voz e  e guitarra), Todd Dalhoff (baixo e voz), Matthew Borg (guitarra, voz) e Noah Rubin (bateria e voz.  A banda que nasceu em 2006, tocou no Brasil em 2009, período em que o Little Joy (projeto de Rodrigo Amarante) também tocava lá fora, nesse momento os contatos já haviam sido estabelecidos e um apoio mútuo entre as bandas deu muito certo.

The Dead Trees tem um estilo alternativo com melodias fortes e cheias de sensibilidade, ouvi-los me faz lembrar um pouco de The Donkeys, The Moondoggies e até The Strokes.

O primeiro álbum da banda, intitulado provisoriamente WHATWAVE foi gravado no início deste ano em Hollywood Hills e conta com participação da banda brasileira Little Joy de Fabrizio Moretti (baterista do Strokes), Binki Shapiro e Rodrigo Amarante.  Toda produção e custos foram pagos por doações prometidas por fãs e simpatizantes na angariação de fundos Kickstarer.com

Cummings disse que a ajuda vinda foi inacreditável, segundo ele, a banda atingiu a meta de US $ 17.000 (cerca de 34 mil reais), conseguindo assim financiar todo o projeto da banda de forma independente, e vão fazer  o lançamento  nos EUA de forma tão criativa quanto a técnica de financiamento do próprio registro.  O lançamento simultâneo com os esforços do Selo europeu Affair Of the Heart  e o japonês Lively Up em todo o mundo é outra jogada de mestre dos rapazes.

Returning now to speak of the bands out of Brazil, and for to close this week, I want to present The Dead Trees, a quartet of Los Angeles, USA, formed by Michael Ian Cummings (voice and and guitar), Todd Dalhoff (bass and vocals), Matthew Borg (guitar, vocals) and Noah Rubin (drums and vocals). The band formed in 2006, played in Brazil in 2009, when the Little Joy (Rodrigo Amarante project) also played out there, this time the contacts had been established and mutual support between the bands work very well.

The Dead Trees have an alternative style with strong melodies and full of sensitivity, listening to them reminds me a bit of The Donkeys, The Moondoggies, and even the Strokes.

The band's first album, tentatively titled WHATWAVE was recorded earlier this year in Hollywood Hills, and counts with the participation of Brazilian band Little Joy Fabrizio Moretti (drummer of the Strokes), Binki Shapiro and Rodrigo Amarante. All production and costs were paid by donations promised by fans and supporters in fundraising Kickstarer.com

Cummings said that the aid coming was unbelievable, he said, the band reached its target of U.S. $ 17,000 (about 34,000 dollars), thus financing the entire project of the band independently, and will make the U.S. release so as creative as the technique of financing the record itself. The simultaneous release with the efforts of the European Seal Affair Of The Heart and Japanese Lively Up around the world is another master of the boys played.

Nitrokill - "Rock estilo Rock"

Nitrokill, banda paulistana formada por Drix Barsali na guitarra e vocal, Sergio Barbosa Filho na guitarra, Daniel "Capanga" no baixo e Louise Calandrino na bateria.

Nitrokill faz "rock estilo rock" como é definido por Capanga, ou seja, roquenrol na sua melhor forma, atitude, porrada na orelha, o bom e velho roquenroll tão raro nos dias de hoje mas que segue vivo graças a bandas como a Nitrokill. 

A banda possui um EP  (Veneno), que acabou de sair do forno, seu lançamento oficial aconteceu no dia 7 passado em um show no Inferno Club, onde a banda tocou praticamente direto, sem pausas, mostrando toda a sua energia.

O EP possui 5 faixas "Ser Pior", "Curvas Perigosas", "Alguém como Você", "Veneno" e o inusitado cover da Beyonce "Halo". Ele pode ser conferido e baixado no site oficial da banda.

O IN LS esteve no último dia 5 no Studio LaCasa onde acompanhamos o ensaio antes do show de lançamento do EP e fizemos uma entrevista excluisva para o blog que pode ser vista no video abaixo.

Nitrokill, brazilian band formed by Drix Barsali on guitar and vocals, Sergio Barbosa Filho on guitar, Daniel "Capanga" on bass and Louise Calandrino on drums.

 Nitrokill does "rock like rock" style as defined by Capanga, or rock and roll at its best, attitude, powerful, the good old Rock n Roll so rare these days but still alive thanks to bands like Nitrokill.

The band has an EP (Veneno), that was just released, was officially released in July 7 in a show at Inferno Clube, where the band played almost straight through without breaks, showing all his energy.

The EP has 5 tracks "Ser Pior", "Curvas Perigosas", "Alguém como Você", "Veneno" and the unusual Beyonce´s cover "Halo". It´s can be downloaded from official site.

Curumin

Luciano Nakata Albuquerque, também conhecido como Luciano “Curumin” Nakata ou simplesmente pelo seu nome artístico Curumin, cantor, compositor e multiinstrumentista nascido em julho de 1976 em São Paulo.

Curumin possui uma grande bagagem musical tocou nas bandas Sindicato do Groove e Zomba, com Paula Lima nos vocais, além de tocar bateria com Arnaldo Antunes.

Suas influencias são diversas como Rock, Funk, Hip Hop, Samba e Soul e por incrivel que pareça ele consegue fundir toda essa diversidade nas suas composições o que torna o seu estilo muito interessante.

Seus trabalhos são muito bem aclamados pelo público estrangeiro, recebeu ótimas críticas do New York Times e ainda tem como sua fan a atriz Natalie Portman, além de inúmeras turnês internacionais. 

Possui 3 álbuns "Achados e Perdidos" lançado em setembro de 2005, "Japan Pop Show" lançado em fevereiro de 2008 e conta até com um samba em japones e o mais recente trabalho "Arrocha" que acabou de sair do forno, lançado em junho deste ano.

Curumin é mais um dos que levam musica brasileira de qualidade para fora e que ainda nos da orgulho da musicabilidade brasileira que infelizmente esta tão esquecida nos dias de hoje.

Deixo aqui  a interessantíssima música "Sambito" ao vivo  do seu segundo álbum "Japan Pop Show"e a a música "Passarinho" do seu última álbum "Arrocha".

Luciano Nakata Albuquerque, also known as Luciano "Curumin" Nakata or simply by his stage name 

Curumin, singer, songwriter and instrumentalist born in July 1976 in Sao Paulo.

Curumin has a great musical background, played in bands Sindicato do Groove and Zomba with the brazilian singer Paula Lima, and played drums with the musician Arnaldo Antunes.

 
His influences are as diverse as Rock, Funk, Hip Hop, Samba, Soul and it seems incredible that he can blow all that this diversity in their composition which makes his style very interesting. 

His works are highly acclaimed by foreign audiences, received excellent reviews from the New York Times and still has its fans as actress Natalie Portman. 

 It has three albums "Achados e Perdidos" released in September 2005, "Japan Pop Show" released in February 2008 and even has a samba in Japanese and the latest work "Arrocha" released in June this year.

Curumin is more of a brazilian artists with quality and still the pride of the Brazilian music and that is so sadly forgotten today.

INDIE ROCK DE GUITARRA - Cenário Carioca - parte II

Como prometido, volto para falar mais um pouco sobre Lê Almeida, desta vez focando no músico e nos álbuns com um pouco mais de detalhes. Claro que passei horas muito agradáveis ouvindo todos os trabalhos do rapaz, realmente é algo extraordinário e o mais bacana é a pessoa do Lê Almeida, simplesmente algo que nos enche de orgulho, a começar por não saber nem os nomes das cordas da guitarra e ainda assim fazer música com tamanha criatividade e sonoridade. Ou seja, um talento nato para música.

A viagem sonora dos álbuns é algo único e impressionante que precisa de atenção. Uma das várias curiosidades que envolvem a gravação e o processo criativo do Lê, está no tempo das músicas,  isso pode ser notado nas diferentes fases dos trabalhos do Lê, no EP “Fique bem com dropes de halls” por exemplo, as músicas têm entre 1 e 2 minutos em média, O próprio single citado de 2007 é prova disso pois têm exatos 2:41. Além da energia da faixa título o disco também tem um recheio belíssimo da música “com” de apenas 1:20, onde ouvir uma vez apenas é praticamente impossível.

Já no EP “Loufailândia”, primeiro trabalho do Lê, ele constrói músicas mais longas, com duração entre 3 a 5 min, disco alias que traz de forma latente o conceito LO FI, álbum que também o levou a fazer parte do cast da Midsummer Madness.

Mas canções longas não é o que Lê Almeida realmente gosta de fazer,  diz preferir construções mais curtas e com letras subjetivamente “poéticas” onde cotidiano e os amigos são cantados de forma inteligente nada piegas. 2008 é a vez do single “Querida Deal” (uma referência a Kim Deal, baixista do Pixies e líder do Breeders), um disco lindo e cheio de emoções, nostalgia, com destaque a canção “Trocando as Estações” de apenas 50 segundos.

2009 foi um ano agitado e em maio deste ano saiu o EP REVI, que meses depois ganhou uma edição em vinil pela Vinyl Land (prensado na Inglaterra e com distribuição dentro e fora do país). Ainda em 2009, Lê Almeida produziu o tributo à banda norte-americana pioneira no lo-fi Guided By Voices, Don't Stop Now, com 31 bandas de todo o Brasil. Em 2010 lança o single “Transporpirações” e 2011 finalmente foi lançado “Mono Maçã”, com versões e formatos diferentes, oficialmente com 23 faixas. Claro que no meio de tanta informação sobre os álbuns e as datas, inúmeras curiosidades aconteceram, mas sugiro darem uma olhada na história completa no próprio site do Lê Almeida (site oficial Lê Almeida)

Lê Almeida lançará em outubro seu mais novo trabalho, o EP “Pré Ambulatório” que já esta pronto e vai ser masterizado a partir de uma mesa tascam (cassete). Este EP  brevemente  será lançado também em Seattle via Lost Sound , será uma tiragem limitada em K7.

Temos show dele em São Paulo dia 25 de agosto no SP Pop Fest, ingressos já quase esgotados e ILS vai conferir para trazer a vocês.

Como de costume, vou deixar mais alguns vídeos, o primeiro do álbum “Mono Maçã" - "Bike Never Die" de 2011, em seguida do EP “Transporpirações” de 2010, com a faixa título do EP e por fim "Eles estão na minha rua" do álbum "Mono Maçã",  gravado neste mês.

As promised, I return to talk a little more about Lê Almeida, this time focusing on the musician and the album with more details. Sure I spent hours in very pleasant day he heard the boy all work, and really is something extraordinary and coolest thing is the person of Lee Adams, just something that fills us with pride, nor get by not knowing the names of the strings guitar and still make music with such creativity and sound. That is, a talent for music.

The journey of the album sound is something unique and impressive that needs attention. One of the many curiosities that involve the recording and creative process of Lê, the music is in time, it can be noticed in the different phases of the his work, the EP "Fique bem com seu drops de halls" for example, the songs are between 1 and 2 minutes on average, single quoted himself in 2007 is proof that they have exactly 2:41. Also in 2009, Lê Almeida produced tribute to the U.S. band pioneered the lo-fi Guided By Voices, Do not Stop Now, with 31 bands from all over Brazil. In 2010 launched the EP "Transporpirações" was finally released in 2011 and "Mono Maçã", with different versions and formats, with 23 official tracks.
